On Saturday we met up with the Heaslet's and went up to Hatcher Pass. We hiked to Gold Cord Lake, and then we also walked around Independence Mine a bit. It was a beautiful, warm sunny day and we had a great time!

We loved having Steph and Alex stay with us! After getting off work on Saturday I finally met up with everyone at our house, haha, and we all had a yummy dinner of salmon tacos! Later that night after putting the girls to bed, all the adults stayed up and we played some games. It was so fun!

On Sunday morning we had a big yummy breakfast of bacon and eggs and then we drove up Hatcher Pass. We were planning on doing a longer hike, but it was pretty foggy and overcast, so we decided to just explore around Independence Mine. We hadn't done that for a few years, so it was fun to check out again! It's very similar to Kennecott Mine, where we were a few weeks ago, not quite as big though. Afterwards we also drove over to Summit Lake and explored around there too. The views weren't quite as impressive with all the clouds moving in, but it was still so pretty! Enjoy these beautiful foggy fall pics!

I've gotten a little behind on my blog posts, but for good reason! We have a new addition to the family! Yay! Expect lots and lots of blog posts about our little Robyn LaRue, but first, these cute pics from two days before she was born (her due date, lol). Grandma and Grandpa made it up on Sunday, July 29th. We were so happy to have them come stay with us! Baby girl still hadn't made her arrival on Monday, so we made the most of it and drove up to Hatcher Pass. Scott was working, but we still had a great time. We first went to Summit Lake. Noelle was asleep in the car so we took turns staying in the car with her and walking around the lake. Ruby especially had fun pretending to be our "captain" and telling us where to go around the lake. After exploring Summit Lake we went to Independence Mine. It had been a few years since we went to the actual mine so it was really fun to check it out again. It was a fun day! Enjoy the pics! (I forgot my big camera, but cell pics work too :))

The summer here in Alaska is sadly coming to an end, but I can't complain too much because we have had fantastic weather, and we've got to do so many fun things. :) Last Wednesday we decided to go up Hatchers Pass (again, we love it up there!) to hike up to Gold Cord Lake. We've never done this hike before and we loved it! We'll definitely be hiking it again. :) It was right by Independence Mine (same parking lot) and about two miles round trip. Ruby went the whole way up by herself and most the way down. We're so proud of her and the strong little hiker she is. She's getting so big! Enjoy the pics!

We forgot Ruby's jacket so she wore mine for a little bit. :)

We spent a beautiful sunny day exploring Independence Mine and Hatchers Pass. We've never really walked around the mine before and it was really cool to see. It was fun to think about it being an actual working mine with people living there from the early 1900's. It's amazing how much is still standing after going through all these winters!
