Halloween, 10/31/22

Friday, April 5, 2024

Every year my mom hosts a big Halloween party for all the family! My cousins would come every year growing up, and now they still come with their kids, along with all of us kids, and our kids; it's gotten pretty big, and it's always a good time! This year my mom hosted right on Halloween, so it made for a busy night, but so fun! We took pictures, played a few games, and ate at my parents', and then we took the girls trick-or-treating (Ruby actually went with her Hocus Pocus friends in a different neighborhood), and then we went back to my parents' for more games. So much fun! Happy Halloween! 🎃🦇🕷

Scary Potter, 10/29/22

There is a home near us in Farmington that puts up an amazing display of Harry Potter creatures and characters every Halloween. My mom had told us about it, and we couldn't wait to check it out. All the figures are carved and handmade by a teen. She does an amazing job, and we loved walking through. They also served butter beer and gave a special chocolate snitch to anyone dressed in a Harry Potter costume. Everything was so fun and so cool!

Scott, Ruby, and Noelle were all Hogwarts students, I was Professor Trelawney, and Robyn was Crookshanks. So fun re-using some of the same costumes from our fun Harry Potter Halloween here.

Halloween Week, '22

Thursday, April 4, 2024

We had so many fun things and different activities going on the week before Halloween, I wanted to include them here. So much fun! Happy Halloween! 🎃

Walking over to the ward Halloween carnival. The sunset was 😍. Robyn was a witch, Noelle was a police officer, and Ruby was Dorothy from Wizard of Oz. (Robyn and Ruby switched it up later in the week, haha.)

Little Haunts, 10/21/22

My parents had passes to This is The Place Heritage Park, and while Scott and I were working they took the girls several times. (I also got to go with a few times, too.) In the fall they have a special event called Little Haunts where they do Halloween themed activities. Grandma and Grandpa B. took the girls this day, and they had so much fun! Enjoy these cute pics!

Scary Hill, Sept./Oct. '22

We loved having season passes to Cherry Hill over the summer, and they included entrance to their fall event: Scary Hill! They pretty much offered all the same things (minus the water park), but with a fun Halloween theme. They also had a tractor ride through the campground that was all decked out in skeletons acting out different scenes from movies and such. We went several times all throughout the month and definitely got full use of our passes. (Thanks so much Grandma and Grandpa B.!)

Love this huge spider on the mini golf course! 🕷

These cool pumpkins are on display in the neighborhood, just down the street from us! It was so fun to see them! This was the Harry Potter section.

Burton Halloween Party, 10/30/21

Wednesday, January 26, 2022

My mom has always thrown a big family Halloween party for as long as I can remember. Most of my extended family (on my mom's side) comes and it's always a great time! (We even planned a few trips back to Utah over Halloween when we were still living in AK.) Almost everyone dresses up in amazing costumes, and it's so fun! This year it was kind of a carnival theme, and because of covid we had the party outside, but the weather was beautiful and we had a great time! We had yummy food, played lots of games, and then with Halloween being on Sunday this year, everyone went trick or treating after. The girls loved going out with their cousins, and they got tons of candy, haha. Enjoy the fun pics!

Ruby was Jasmine (from the live action Aladdin), Robyn was Rajah (Jasmine's tiger, also from Aladdin), and Noelle was Vampirina (a cute animated show on Disney)

Pumpkin Patch, 10/11/21

The following day the Woods met us at a pumpkin patch in West Farmington, Pack Farms, and then they came over to our house for dinner. The pumpkin patch was a little chilly and really windy, but we still had fun and even though I don't have any pictures of them here, haha, the Woods were with us and it was so good to see them! We're so grateful for the time we spent in AK and the many wonderful people we met there! Seriously can't wait to go back and visit!

Halloween Costumes, 10/18/20

Monday, October 19, 2020

We woke up to our first snow of the season yesterday morning! It was just a light dusting, but still kind of exciting! The girls wanted to go right out and play in it, and I was excited to take pictures in it, haha! (The white snow makes such pretty pics!) We decided to get the girls in their Halloween costumes and take their pictures. (I'll be working on Halloween and probably won't get home until dark so not sure if we'll get too many pics that day, haha.) It was a little chilly, so after taking a few pics they got all their snow gear on and played in it for a bit. It was fun!

For now Robyn is Anna and Noelle is Elsa from Frozen II. And Ruby is Hermione from Harry Potter. We have gone back and forth on several costume ideas, but for now this works, haha. (Not sure if Scott and I will dress up this year.) Happy (almost) Halloween! 🎃👻

*Edited to add: Now that Halloween is over I've added a few cell pics from actual Halloween at the bottom of this post. The girls kept these same costumes, except it was FREEZING! We had to bundle them up good! Scott took the girls to a trunk or treat at their school during the day (I was working, but they said it was super fun! They played math games out of teachers' trunks and got small toys instead of candy) and then we all went to a trunk or treat at our church that evening. So much fun!

The fresh snow was perfect for Elsa! ❄

Scout Ridge Trail, 9/13/20

Friday, October 16, 2020

We've had such pretty colors this fall, and we've tried our best to get out and enjoy it as much as we can! A few Sundays ago we decided to hike Scout Ridge trail. It was so pretty and we decided fall is our favorite time of year to hike it because of all the beautiful colors (and no mosquitoes!)

Halloween, 10/6/19

Monday, November 4, 2019
We had a very fun October. (I can't believe the month is already over!) The past three years we have been visiting family over Halloween so it was nice to be home this year. The girls decided to go with a Star Wars theme and it was so fun! Ruby was Rey, Noelle was Chewbacca (Grandma B. found the perfect Chewie costume that Noelle loved wearing!) and Robyn was BB8. See Halloween 2016 when we also did a Star Wars theme.

Earlier in the month we were having some "warmer" weather so I took the girls' pictures outside while we still had some leaves on the trees. We ended up having pretty nice weather on Halloween, but it was nice to have the pictures done early, haha. Scott and I also dressed up for our friend's Halloween party a few weeks ago as Jerry and Elaine from Seinfeld. It was so funny, haha. Enjoy these fun pics!

La Jolla Halloween, 10/31/18

Monday, November 19, 2018
On actual Halloween we decided to take the girls trick-or-treating in La Jolla. All the shops were giving out candy in the afternoon, and we thought this would be a safe and fun way to trick-or-treat. It was great! We had beautiful, sunny weather, and I enjoyed quickly sight shopping the stores, too. Happy Halloween!

In front of a cute little candy shop

We also walked down to the water to see the seals and birds :) I love all these pelicans!

I think these birds are cormorants. California is so beautiful!

Harry Potter Halloween, 10/29/18

While in California we had one of the best Halloween parties ever! Each year my mom throws a Halloween party for all my extended family and it's always a big hit. Since we were in Cali over Halloween we decided to have the party there, too. Because our little family was doing Harry Potter themed costumes, everyone else decided to too, and we made the whole party Harry Potter themed. Everyone's costumes were amazing, we had the most delicious food (complete with Harry Potter puns), and played some fun Halloween/Harry Potter games. My favorite game was being sorted into Houses. Scott was the voice of the Sorting Hat and when his dad put on the hat he said, "Hmm, interesting. Squib!" Chrissy and I were dying with laughter! (I think we were the only ones that got it, haha.) Enjoy these fun pics and Happy Halloween!

The cutest little Crookshanks I've ever seen!
