January in AK can be pretty dark and slow, but we always try to make the most of it. Here are a few highlights! ❄️

With all the snow we got plenty of sledding in! Sledding at the littles' school here. 1/6/24

Ice Fishing, 2/11/23

Wednesday, May 8, 2024

One Saturday in February the Hadley fam all got together to go ice fishing at East Canyon Reservoir. It was pretty cold, so we didn't stay too long, and I don't think anyone caught anything, but we still had a lot of fun. We had lunch on the ice, the kids went sledding, and it was kind of fun to use the auger, lol. Enjoy these wintery pics! 🧊🎣

Sledding, 12/21/22

Friday, April 12, 2024

The Activity Day group hosted a sledding activity at the Reich's (my parents' next door neighbor), and Noelle, Robyn, and I got to go! Ruby would have gone too, but she was still recovering from her tonsillectomy. The girls had so much fun! Almost like we were back in AK, haha!

Cutest little sledding girls 💕

Sledding, 12/24/20

Wednesday, January 20, 2021

On Christmas Eve we took Grandma and Grandpa sledding at the golf course. We went as soon as it got light (around 10:30 am, lol!) so we didn't have to worry about too many other people being there. We had the hill to ourselves pretty much the entire time! It was so fun and everyone got multiple turns going down the big hill. Robyn especially surprised us, wanting to go down on her own on the little Frozen sled. We had so much fun we went after Christmas as well, and several times in our yard, but this was the only time I took my big camera. So fun!

Such a beautiful morning!

Sledding, 11/22/20

Tuesday, January 19, 2021

We had some beautiful sunny weather on Sunday and decided to go sledding as a family. We just went in our yard and neighbor's backyard, and it was so fun! We've been able to go sledding several times this year and the girls are just loving it! Enjoy the sunshine in these pics! 💛

Snow, 11/17/20

Just before Thanksgiving Noelle's class had a positive case of covid so she had online learning with her class for about a week. It was fun to have her home during the daylight hours, and she and Robyn loved playing in the snow together. Enjoy these cute pics!

Snow Fun, 3/16/20

Thursday, March 26, 2020
The sun has been shining and we are loving it! 🌤I took these pics of the girls playing outside just over a week ago. We still have a lot of snow, but the warm sun means that spring is on its way!

Spring Break Snow, 3/8/20

It's been a few weeks since I've posted and, wow! So much has happened these past few weeks. The girls had spring break the second week of March and these photos are from after church that first Sunday of spring break. It was snowing pretty hard and we had fun sledding and "snowboarding," haha.

Later on during their spring break it was decided to extend spring break for another week due to concerns of the coronavirus, then it came out that all church meetings and activities were canceled, then Scott's work trip to Atlanta was canceled the day before he left, and then school was changed to distance style learning until at least May 1 (which we're still very much getting used to), and then my work started only doing emergency treatment until the end of April (so I'm not working for five weeks), and as of now Scott is off for two weeks. We are living in crazy times, but we're definitely making the most of it, and we're loving all the family time. It's so nice to have Scott home to help with school stuff, and we've also potty trained Robyn! Yay! It's taken a few days, but she's definitely getting it down, and doing so good. We're so proud of her!

Enjoy these fun snowy pics!

Sledding w/ Grandma and Grandpa! 2/19/20

Wednesday, February 26, 2020
Early Wednesday morning we got a text from Grandma and Grandpa that they were able to catch a flight, and they were on their way! (Flying standby is quite the challenge sometimes!) Right after that we got notification that school had been canceled due to the snow. Pretty exciting morning, haha!

Scott was planning on picking up Grandma and Grandpa from the airport, and he decided to take Ruby and Noelle with to surprise them! I stayed home with Robyn, but Grandma and Grandpa were so excited and happy to see the girls at the airport! With all the snow it took a bit longer to go to Anchorage and back, but Scott was able to drive there and back safely (tons of cars had gone off the road), and we were just so glad that they were able to make it! Later in the afternoon we all went sledding at the golf course. With school being canceled there were quite a few kids there, but we still had a great time! It was pretty warm (high twenties) and we all were able to sled down the hill multiple times. So much fun!

Sledding, 2/17/20

Tuesday, February 25, 2020
Grandma and Grandpa Burton were planning to come visit us for about a week over Noelle's birthday, but unfortunately they ran into a few problems flying standby. They still made it up, it was just a few days later than when we thought they would be here. It all worked out though, and we had a great time with them here, even though it was short and went by way too quick!

On Monday and Tuesday (2/17 and 2/18) the girls didn't have school. Scott also didn't have work on Monday so we decided to go sledding at the golf course. It was so fun, and we pretty much had the hill to ourselves the whole time we were there. Grandma and Grandpa didn't make it up until Wednesday, so we missed them this day, but still had a good time. 😊

Hatcher Pass, 2/26/19

Friday, March 15, 2019
We went on a little overnighter up Hatcher Pass on one of the nights Chrissy was here. We slept in one of the cute little red cabins near the mine. Every time we drive up to Hatcher Pass the girls ask about the cabins and when we're going to stay in them again. They're so fun!

It was beautiful, clear, sunny, and warm (high 20s to low 30s). We got there in the afternoon, spent some time outside in the snow, playing and sledding, and then had yummy Krazy Moose subs in our cabin for dinner and played games. We also took some pictures outside at night, but I'll put them in a separate post. The next morning we actually left pretty early because it was too cold to play outside, and Robyn kept trying to climb the step ladder up to the loft and we were afraid she was going to get hurt. The cabins are definitely not baby proof, lol. It was such a fun little getaway, though!

I don't think you can rent this one, but I think it's so cute with the skis!

Snow Day #3, 12/23/18

Sunday, January 13, 2019
After church on the Sunday before Christmas our whole family went out and played in the snow. It was so fun! After taking these pics we went over to Croce's for a little bit and sled down their huge hill. It was a blast!

Snow Day, 12/3/18

Friday, December 21, 2018
Ruby's school closed for about a week and a half as they were going through inspections and making sure it was safe for students to go back in. Her school is newer and definitely one of the lucky ones for how it fared in the earthquake. Her teacher told me only a couple books fell off the shelf in her classroom.

It was nice to have Ruby home with us during the day, almost like a little early Christmas break. We played outside in the snow a lot, and I especially enjoyed being able to take pics of all three girls while it's daylight! The day I took these the sun was actually breaking through the clouds and had that beautiful golden light. 😍 At this time of year when it's light the sun stays so low on the horizon it's like it's always golden hour, haha.

While we were driving today Noelle said, "Look at that pretty sunset!" It was actually sunrise, but I didn't correct her because at this time of year it's basically the same thing. Sunrise and sunset just blend together, lol.

Sledding! 2/21/18

Friday, February 23, 2018
Ruby had a dental appointment in the middle of the day on Wednesday, so rather than have her go to school for only a few hours we just kept her home. :) Scott had the day off, so in the afternoon we all went sledding at the golf course! It was so fun and just perfect weather! Ruby especially loved it, Noelle liked it at first, and Robyn didn't seem to care too much, lol. Enjoy these cute pics!

Hatcher Pass, 3/8-9/17

Tuesday, March 14, 2017
Mike and Kay have been staying with us the last week and a half, and it's been so fun to have them with us! I've been filling in at work, so they've mainly been watching the girls while Scott and I work, but we did have a couple days off last week where we went up to Hatcher Pass and stayed in one of the little red cabins. It was so fun! The weather was clear and beautiful, just a little cold. We got up to Hatcher Pass Wednesday afternoon and after getting all checked in, we went sledding. I think the girls were a little cold, so we didn't stay outside too long. But Grandpa, Grandma, Scott, and I all had fun sledding. The girls were not too happy and just wanted to go back to the cabin. But we had fun in the cabin too, playing games and enjoying our Krazy Moose subs. The next morning we just took it easy in the cabin before heading back home. It was so fun, and I'd definitely like to stay in the cabins again!

We stayed in Cabin 1, Gold Mint.
