Bishop's Beach, 6/5/19
Monday, July 1, 2019
After spending some time at the end of the spit we drove to Bishop's Beach and spent about an hour or so there. It was a beautiful clear day, but kind of a lot of walking for the girls to get to the rocky tidepool areas. I was definitely glad we had Grandma and Grandpa's help with the girls. We ended up only finding one starfish, but we did get to see some bald eagles pretty close. They were eating these little fish that would kind of dig into the sand. It was really cool. After exploring the beach we then started our drive back home. We had a wonderful time in Homer. 😊
Homer Starfish, 6/5/19
One of the reasons we really wanted to go to Homer was to see the starfish. There was a disease a few years ago that pretty much killed all the starfish, but I had heard they started to recover this year so I really wanted to go and see them! I looked up when the negative tides were, and we planned this trip around it. After spending the night in the cabin we went out exploring the next morning before driving back home. Our first stop was the pier at the end of the spit. There were tons of starfish! It was so fun to see all of them! I was loving it. In hindsight I wish we would have spent longer here, because the next beach we went to we only found one starfish, but it was all good. We still had so much fun and couldn't have had a more beautiful day! 🌤

Homer Spit and Cabin, 6/4/19
We made it to Homer! Yay! Once we got down there we first stopped and walked along the Spit. We had fun shopping and also enjoyed a yummy dinner of fish and chips. This was Grandma and Grandpa's first time to Homer, so it was fun to show them around. 😊 We then drove to the cabin, where we spent the night. We got there kind of late, and once we got there we realized we probably should have tried to get there earlier in the day. It was super nice and clean, and the views were just amazing! The girls always love sleeping overnight any where else, so they were all super excited and it took a while for them to go to sleep, haha. (The midnight sun doesn't help either, haha. But we just try to enjoy all the sunshine we can while we have it.) Enjoy these fun pics of Homer. 🌤

Bishop's Beach, 7/15/18
Thursday, August 9, 2018
Before coming home on Sunday morning we decided to stop and explore Bishop's Beach in Homer. It was a super low tide the weekend we were there so we were really hoping to see some starfish, but unfortunately we didn't see a single one! I guess a disease really hurt the starfish population a few years ago and they haven't really recovered. :(
We still had a fun time seeing all the other sea creatures, and the girls loved collecting sea shells. It was a bit rainy and overcast while we were on the beach, and we had some rain on the drive home, but overall we had a great weekend in Homer!

Halibut Fishing, 7/14/18
Sunday, August 5, 2018
The main reason we went to Homer was to go halibut fishing with my work! It's an annual tradition, thanks to the generosity of Dr. Scott Methven, for all of the Aesthetic Family Dentistry staff. Scott (my Scott) and I have had so much fun on these trips the past few years. This time there was an extra spot, so Grandpa Hadley was also able to go. It was a great day and we caught a lot of fish! We got rained on just a bit, (so these are all cell pics as I was worried about taking my big camera) and it was a little rough on the water with a few of us getting seasick, but poor Grandpa got it the worst. He threw up multiple times off the boat. :( I think I threw up twice, but we still had a great time, lol! Kachemak Bay is so beautiful!!

Homer, 7/13/18
Tuesday, July 31, 2018
We made it to Homer in the early afternoon on Friday, 7/13. We first went to the cabin, a cute little place I found on Air B & B. It was perfect for us, with plenty of room and a nice kitchen. The girls always love staying overnight at different places, and they especially loved this "blue cabin!" After checking out the cabin and dropping off some stuff we went down to the Spit and walked around. It was fun going into the cute little shops and walking along the beach. It was a little chilly, but not too bad, and we had fun. Enjoy these cute pics!

Bishop's Beach, 6/25/17
Friday, June 30, 2017
Before starting the long drive back home on Sunday we decided to stop at Bishop's Beach and explore the tidepools. It was a super low tide over the weekend and I was really looking forward to seeing some starfish! I saw lots of pics from last summer of tons of beautiful starfish. Unfortunately a lot of them died off this year, (see here) but we were lucky enough to see two! The baby one was especially cute. :) Poor little Noelle wasn't feeling very well so she wasn't too happy to be at the beach, but we still had a good time.
Homer, 6/23-25/17
Aunt Chrissy got to come visit us this past week! We had so much fun together and we are so glad she got to spend some time with us. The girls definitely love their aunt Chrissy. :)
Last Friday we drove down to Homer, AK. On Saturday my work took everyone out on the annual halibut charter. Chrissy took my spot because I wasn't sure I wanted to be out on the boat that long, lol. They had a great time and caught lots of fish. Scott actually caught the biggest halibut of everyone on the boat, a 40 pounder! :D
While Scott and Chrissy were out on the boat I took the girls to the park and museum, and we just enjoyed the beautiful sunny weather. :)

It was so fun to have Chrissy come stay with us, and the main reason she came was so that she could watch the girls while Scott and I went on a little getaway to Homer! My work does a halibut fishing trip out of Homer every year and this was the first time we were able to go! We drove down Saturday (the office was closed, yay!) and then the fishing charter was on Sunday. After the full-day charter, we drove all the way home Sunday night and made it back around 11 pm. It was both Scott and mine's first time to Homer. We loved it! It is such a cute little town and I loved walking along and shopping the Spit. We had rainy weather pretty much the whole two days we were there, but it wasn't too bad. I'd love to go back to Homer. Maybe next summer, with the girls! I really wanted to see some starfish at the end of the Spit, but it was high tide while we were there, so we didn't get to. We still had so much fun though! The halibut fishing was a blast! It was a lot of hard work reeling them in! Enjoy the pics! Also, a huge thanks to my work for the fun time, and a especially a huge thanks to Chrissy for watching the girls! I know they had tons of fun with their aunt and I knew they were in good hands. :)
