Beach Days, 12/29-31/22

Monday, May 6, 2024

While in Cali we stayed at my parents' condos in Oceanside. We were also there with Jake's fam, Chrissy, and my parents. It was so fun to be all together! We took many trips to the beach, playing in the sand and waves, and did many bike rides along the strand. We had so much fun! We love O-side! 🌴🌊

Ruby had fun playing football with the boys! 🏈

Beach Days in Oceanside, 12/27-28/22, 12/31/21

Saturday, July 16, 2022

We had so much fun on our trip to California the week between Christmas and New Years. We surprised the girls on Christmas Day, and then drove down the day after Christmas. We ran into some construction traffic and traffic outside of Vegas that really slowed our drive down, but we eventually made it! We had some rainy weather off and on while we were there, but overall we had pretty good weather for the days we were in O'side. The days we were at Disney were a completely different story, haha. (Rainy posts to come, lol.)

The girls loved the beach! They loved playing in the sand and wading in the waves. Our Alaska grown girls were the only ones swimming without wetsuits, haha! While in Oceanside we also enjoyed shopping and eating lots of yummy Mexican food. It had been so long since we had all been to Cali together and we had so much fun! Thanks so much to my parents for letting us stay in the condo!

California, 6/16-21/21

Monday, November 1, 2021

Grandma and Grandpa B. were able to take Ruby and Noelle on a little trip to Oceanside! I'm so glad they were able to go. (Scott and I were both busy with work, and we decided Robyn was still a little too young.) Jake and Karalee and their family were also in California, so it was so fun for them to spend time with their cousins! The girls were well taken care of and did so many fun things! We enjoyed getting pics from Grandma and Grandpa throughout the week and face timing them at night to hear all about their day. I can't wait until we can all go! Enjoy these fun pics!

Noelle and Izzy have become the best little friends!

Kayaking, 10/30/18

Monday, November 19, 2018
Tuesday was Grandma and Grandpa H.'s last day with us (they left that afternoon) so in the morning we decided to all go kayaking over at the harbor. It was so fun! I was actually kind of surprised that Ruby and Noelle enjoyed it as much as they did. I thought Noelle would have been more scared, but she loved being out in the boat and helping paddle. It was a fun morning!

Harry Potter Halloween, 10/29/18

While in California we had one of the best Halloween parties ever! Each year my mom throws a Halloween party for all my extended family and it's always a big hit. Since we were in Cali over Halloween we decided to have the party there, too. Because our little family was doing Harry Potter themed costumes, everyone else decided to too, and we made the whole party Harry Potter themed. Everyone's costumes were amazing, we had the most delicious food (complete with Harry Potter puns), and played some fun Halloween/Harry Potter games. My favorite game was being sorted into Houses. Scott was the voice of the Sorting Hat and when his dad put on the hat he said, "Hmm, interesting. Squib!" Chrissy and I were dying with laughter! (I think we were the only ones that got it, haha.) Enjoy these fun pics and Happy Halloween!

The cutest little Crookshanks I've ever seen!

Beach Day #2, 10/29/18

Friday, November 16, 2018
We pretty much went to the beach every day that we were in Cali. It was so fun! One of my favorite trips to the beach was when it was just Chrissy, Scott, and I that went, while Mom and Dad watched the girls. We boogie boarded to our heart's content and had a great time! I didn't have my big camera with me then (because I was in the water, lol), but we had so much fun! These pics are from Monday morning/afternoon while Grandma and Grandpa H. were still here. Both grandpas went boogie boarding and it was so fun to see them out in the water. We all had a great time! Enjoy these pics!

Beach Day #1, 10/28/18

Thursday, November 15, 2018
We love staying at the condo and just being able to walk straight out to the beach! After going to the mission we finished up Sunday evening playing at the beach. We were there in the late afternoon, and then stayed until sunset. It was such a beautiful evening!

Noelle's beach curls couldn't be any more perfect!

Mission San Luis Rey, 10/28/18

While we were in SoCal for Halloween, there were also many Día de los Muertos celebrations going on as well. Thanks to Coco (one of our new favorite Disney shows) we had a little bit of a better idea of what Day of the Dead is all about. The old Mission San Luis Rey (the present church was completed in 1815!) was having a big event, so after church on Sunday we all headed over. We walked through the mission and admired all the ofrendas in the trunks of old cars (it was like a car show too), and we also enjoyed seeing people dressed as beautiful calaveras with face makeup. All the bright colors were so fun, and the many orange marigolds were so pretty! I personally enjoyed seeing so much remembrance brought to those who have passed on. Enjoy these fun pics!

The marigold petals are believed to guide the spirits back home to visit.

Oceanside Condo, 10/28/18

These are just a few quick pics I snapped at the condo after church on Sunday, before going out on our other adventures. We seriously had the best weather the whole week we were there! I love that California sunshine!

I could not get enough of Robyn in her cute little chair!

She loved hanging out in the courtyard!

California! 4/6-10/17

Tuesday, April 18, 2017
Scott had a work conference in San Diego and I got to go with him! Thanks to Andy I was able to travel stand-by, and Mom and Dad were able to come up and stay with the girls. It was really hard to leave the girls for so long, (especially because I had a hard time catching a flight back home) but it was definitely worth it! Scott and I had so much fun in So. Cal, and I know the girls had lots of fun with Grandma and Grandpa.

While in San Diego we ate lots of yummy food, did lots of shopping, went to a Padres game, drove by the temple, went to the Flower Fields in Carlsbad, and even walked on the strand and pier in Oceanside. It was so nice to enjoy all the sunshine and warmth. Can't wait until we get to go back again, hopefully with three little girls in tow!

The grounds were closed when we were there, so this is as close as we could get, but so beautiful!

Beach Day #2, 6/2/16

Tuesday, June 28, 2016
Our last full day in Cali was Thursday. We decided to spend it on the beach! We went to the beach north of the pier because there was more sand there (Ruby still doesn't like getting close to the water at all!) and some of us also went kayaking at the harbor. It was so much fun and I'm so glad we got to go on this trip. I have the best family! :)

Family Beach Pics, 5/31/16

One thing I really wanted to do while we were in Cali was to have our family pictures taken! I planned out our outfits weeks in advance, and put a lot of time and effort into making these happen! Thanks so much to Chrissy for taking the group shots. Dad was also there to help and make us laugh. :) It was an overcast day, but I'm still so happy with how they turned out! I love them! I actually already made a nice photo album of my favorites, and I plan on using a family shot for our Christmas cards this year. So happy we have these. <3 Love this little family so much.

Ruby's 4th Birthday Party, 5/30/16

Monday, June 27, 2016
Ruby turned 4 (can't believe it!) on June 6, 2016. We decided to celebrate a few days early while we were with family in Cali. She loves Star Wars (she hasn't seen the whole movie, just parts, but she knows all the characters thanks to her Star Wars coloring books and a sticker book) so we did a little Star Wars theme by making a BB-8 cake (thanks Chrissy for your help making it!) and then we had super fun(ny) character mask party favors. :) These are mainly cell pics because I'm still not very good using my big camera if I don't have natural light, but they're still cute. We love our little Ruby so much! She's getting so big and smart and fun, and she's developing quite the sense of humor. Such a cutie! <3

The whole crew! Just missing Jake and his fam. So much fun being all together!

Memorial Day Beach Day, 5/30/16

We had so much fun in Cali! Get ready for an overload of blog posts! We loved spending time with family, and we had beautiful weather. We all kind of got sick with a cold, but it wasn't too bad. We still had tons of fun! First up, Memorial Day: We spent it on the beach. Enjoy the pics!

So cool to see this in the sky

Kayaking, 10/8/15

Wednesday, October 28, 2015
The day before leaving we were able to go out in my parents' kayak at the Oceanside harbor. It was so fun! I've never been kayaking there before. It was really cool because there were sea lions all around us in the water, and on the dock. (These are all cell pics because I didn't take my big camera to the harbor.)

We had so much fun on this trip to Cali and I'm so glad we were able to go. :)

Probably my favorite photo of Noelle Belle ever! 💗

Condo Pics, 10/6/15

Monday, October 26, 2015
These are just a few shots of Noelle that I got at the condo while Scott and Ruby were napping. My parents' condos are so nice and we're so lucky to be able to use them. We always have so much fun. :)

I love this cute bow headband from my friend Krystal's mom. Also, I used to wear these adorable little overalls. So sweet!

Family Beach Pics, 10/7/15

We would walk down to the beach almost nightly to watch the sunset. It is so beautiful! I wanted to get some family pics while we were there, so I had Chrissy snap our family shots while Grandpa was doing some really funny dance moves behind her to make Ruby (and the rest of us) laugh. So fun!

I always love when I can get a picture of these two sweet girls together :)

Beach Day! 10/6/15

Thursday, October 22, 2015
Our favorite thing to do in California is go to the beach! I was so lucky growing up that we got to go to Oceanside so many times. We love it there! The girls had fun playing in the sand, and the adults had fun boogie boarding and riding cruisers down the strand. I think Ruby enjoyed playing at the park at the beach more than the actual beach, but that's ok. Our whole trip we had beautiful, sunny weather (actually, we did have one rainy morning, but that's it). I'd love come to Cali again in October. So fun! :)

Can't ever get enough of these baby legs <3
