Eklutna Lake, 6/28/24

Monday, July 21, 2025

We spent the next day (Friday) up at Eklutna Lake with Chrissy. We all hiked the Twin Peaks trail to the first bench, and then Scott took Robyn and Noelle back down while Chrissy, Ruby, and I hiked up further, past the second bench to the next viewpoint. This was my first time hiking up this high, and it was worth it! The views of the lake from even higher are so amazing!

We then hiked back down and met Scott and the littles at the campsite, where we had a yummy hot dog roast, and then we finished the day off by going back down to the lake and letting the girls play in the water and mud. They had so much fun, haha. Enjoy these beautiful pics!

Eklutna Lake, 6/9/24

Sunday, June 8, 2025

We had the most beautiful Sunday, full of sunshine, and decided to spend the day at Eklutna Lake. We first hiked to first bench on the Twin Peaks trail, and then we went down to the lake and the girls waded and played in the water and mud. Scott also got in the water too, lol. It was such a fun and beautiful day! Enjoy the pics! (Didn't bring my big camera, but these cell pics are pretty good!) 🩵

That water 😍🩵

Twin Peaks, 7/1/20

Wednesday, August 5, 2020
We all woke up pretty early in our tent the next morning and decided to get right at it by hitting the trails! We hiked the Twin Peaks trail up to first bench. It's over a mile each way and fairly steep. We were on the trail before 8 am, and the girls did great! The hike goes to a beautiful lookout above Eklutna Lake.

After hiking back to our campsite, we packed up and headed home. Robyn and Noelle fell asleep pretty quick after we started driving. We had such a fun time camping, and we were so glad we went! Eklutna Lake is definitely one of our favorite places!

Twin Peaks Trail, 6/19/19

Thursday, July 4, 2019
A couple Wednesdays ago (We love Scott having his day off on Wednesday! There are always way less crowds than the weekends!) we hiked Twin Peaks Trail up at Eklutna Lake. We did this one a few years ago with Ruby and Noelle (Noelle was in the hiking backpack and I think Scott carried Ruby for a lot of the way.) We went a little further last time, but we were still able to go quite a ways this time. We went all the way to the first bench. It is such a pretty look out and the girls did pretty good! We love hiking and hope that our girls will feel the same way as they get older!

Twin Peaks Trail, 6/15/16

Wednesday, June 29, 2016
We've always loved going to Eklutna Lake, and one hike we recently heard about there is the Twin Peaks trail, so we decided to hike it! The trailhead is at Eklutna Lake, and you can go all the way up to the top of Twin Peaks, but we didn't make it that far. We went to the 2nd bench (about 2.5 miles), and it was far enough, haha. It was so pretty, and very steep too! Ruby had a bad ear infection the weekend before so she was still kind of recovering and Scott ended up carrying her most of the way, and I had Noelle in the hiking backpack. It was a workout! But so fun too! We love Alaskan summers!

Notice Ruby holding her "new lens!" She pretends her calculator is her camera :)

View from the first bench

Wild geraniums (and other wildflowers) were all along the trail :)
Twin Peaks. We could see dall sheep (far away) but I accidentally deleted the pics! Oops!

We had a little picnic lunch here at the second bench (I didn't get a pic of the actual bench, lol)

Resting on the first bench on the way back down
