Mission San Luis Rey, 10/28/18
Thursday, November 15, 2018
While we were in SoCal for Halloween, there were also many Día de los Muertos celebrations going on as well. Thanks to Coco (one of our new favorite Disney shows) we had a little bit of a better idea of what Day of the Dead is all about. The old Mission San Luis Rey (the present church was completed in 1815!) was having a big event, so after church on Sunday we all headed over. We walked through the mission and admired all the ofrendas in the trunks of old cars (it was like a car show too), and we also enjoyed seeing people dressed as beautiful calaveras with face makeup. All the bright colors were so fun, and the many orange marigolds were so pretty! I personally enjoyed seeing so much remembrance brought to those who have passed on. Enjoy these fun pics!
