Scout Ridge Trail, 9/13/20

We've had such pretty colors this fall, and we've tried our best to get out and enjoy it as much as we can! A few Sundays ago we decided to hike Scout Ridge trail. It was so pretty and we decided fall is our favorite time of year to hike it because of all the beautiful colors (and no mosquitoes!)

The first hike we did with my parents after they got here was Scout Ridge Trail. This is one of our favorites, however, this time there were so many mosquitoes! We had bug spray, but all of us still got so many bites. I took hardly any pics just because we were trying to hurry and finish the trail to get out of the bugs, haha. It was still pretty though and so fun to be with Grandma and Grandpa. 😊

On a nice sunny Sunday in April we decided to go out to the Hay Flats to look for birds and just enjoy the sunshine. We walked out on the flats for a bit and then decided to loop around to the Scout Ridge trail. It was fun and we even saw some sandhill cranes! Enjoy these cute pics!

On Sunday after church we decided to hike the Scout Ridge Loop Trail again. It's just so pretty and so close! I think we'll be hiking this one a lot from now on! Enjoy these beautiful fall colors! 🍁🍂

Later in the evening on Saturday we decided to hike a little loop trail near the Palmer Hay Flats. (I was going to hike it with the Young Women the following week, so I wanted to check it out first.) It's just off Fairview Loop, so it's super close to us, and the whole loop is just a little over a mile, so it was perfect! The whole time we were hiking I kept telling Scott how I couldn't believe we'd never hiked it before. It's so close to us, and so pretty too! Enjoy these beautiful fall colors!

Settlers Bay Hay Flats, 4/20/16
Friday, April 22, 2016
After returning home from Eklutha Lake and having dinner, the sun decided to come out so we took a little walk down to the Hay Flats. I recently just found out that there's a trail to the hay flats/inlet RIGHT next to us! Just down the street! It is so pretty down there and I'm sure we'll be walking down plenty more times. :)

I wanted to get some pics of Noelle for her first birthday, so we decided to drive out to Palmer Hay Flats to take them. It was a beautiful sunny day and we even saw a bald eagle and three moose on our way! It was a little chilly, but not too bad. The days are starting to get longer which is so nice. Bring on the sunshine!

Camera Class Week Four
Monday, November 17, 2014
This is the last and final week of Photo 101 of Nicole's Classes. I have learned so much and I'm so glad I took this course. I still feel like I need a lot more practice to really get comfortable shooting in manual mode, but this course has helped so much. This last week (week 4) I feel was especially helpful. We learned different ways to best use the lighting. Living here in Alaska we are already starting to lose our daylight fast, and it's getting so cold, but I was still able to get a few good shots. :)
