Knik Tribal Gathering, 6/15/24
Scott worked at a fun family event at the Knik Tribal Gathering as part of the health fair, and we all got to go as well. The event brought awareness to residential and boarding school survivors. (These books by Margaret-Olemaun Pokiak-Fenton have been so good for me and the kids to read and to learn more about residential schools and educate ourselves on the atrocities that happened there. They are written for children, but so good for adults too! I can't recommend them enough! We have all four books.)
The event was so fun (the weather was great too!) and we all had a great time. The girls got to go on pony rides, go to a petting zoo, get their face painted, participated in a hula hooping contest (Noelle won her age group!), and Ruby won a raffle drawing for a new bike! We also watched some drumming and dancing and enjoyed some delicious traditional food (smoked salmon, fry bread, moose stew.) So glad we were invited to join in on this fun event! Thank you Knik Tribe!
